Description

Are you ready to take your official ROC-A exam?

Did you know that you can take it online here at Hangaaar?

Industry Canada refers to this as “The Restricted Operator Certificate with Aeronautical Qualification (ROC-A)” but most pilots just call it “The Radio Exam” or “The ROC A Exam.”

Before you sign up for Hangaaar’s official ROC-A Examination, we recommend you take our ROC-A Preparation Course. If you’ve gone through the material on the ROC-A Preparation course, you should be able to pass your official ROC-A Examination.

If you decide to use Hangaaar to write your official ROC-A Exam, you should know::

1. Computer with WebCam Required: You will need a computer that has a web camera. You will need to activate the web camera while you take the examination so that the video can be recorded to ensure that you are not cheating by looking at notes. (Please don’t try to cheat, if you fail, you can just take the exam again.)

2. Proof of Identity is required. You will be asked to fill in an application for your ROC-A Certificate and must show government issued photo identification containing the legal name and date of birth (i.e. Passport, or birth certificate and driver’s licence with a photograph).

3. Multiple Choice and Oral Assessment. There is a multiple choice exam with 25 questions you’ll be required to complete with a passing grade of 70%. You will also be assessed orally by an official Industry Canada Examiner. This will involve reading part of a script as if you were a Pilot speaking to the Control Tower. The aim of this oral assessment is to put into practice what you have learned in the ROC-A Preparation course, such as proper use of saying numbers, runway identifiers, phonetic letters, etc…

Obtaining your ROC-A Certificate:

If you score 70% or greater on the multiple choice examination and also are assessed at 70% or greater on the oral assessment, your application will be submitted to Industry Canada and you will receive your Certificate in approximately 3 weeks.
